Jorge E. Figueredo, MPP

Executive Director
Mr. Figueredo has extensive experience leading organizations and programs committed to providing social services, advancing social justice, and advocating on behalf of disadvantaged communities. Mr. Figueredo was the Executive Director of the Hispanic Committee of Virginia, a local non-profit, which he transformed into a regional multi-million dollar organization. He conceptualized and founded Security One Bank (today known as John Marshall Bank) with 13 other members. He was also the director of the ACLU of Virginia’s Racial Justice and Immigrant Rights Project. Most recently, he worked for The Centech Group, Inc., and the National Federal Contractors Association (NaFCA). He is a native of Colombia, received his bachelor’s degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia, and his master’s degree in public policy from the University of Maryland at College Park. He has two young daughters who attend Arlington Public Schools. Mr. Figueredo is excited to focus on providing educational opportunities for our immigrant youth, which in his experience as an executive, advocate, and an immigrant himself, is critical for having a long-term impact in our communities.

Manuel Piñeros
Deputy Director
Manuel Piñeros joined the organization as its first Deputy Director in June 2023, bringing over 30 years of leadership experience. Holding a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Maryland, College Park, he has a strong background in executive management and entrepreneurship across diverse markets, both non-profit and for-profit, domestically and internationally. As Deputy Director, he oversees internal operations, including Finance & Administration, Human Capital & Operations, Programs & Implementation, and Relationships & Development. He is convinced that “Empowering individuals through education strengthens families, communities, and our nation.” In his free time, he enjoys sports with family and friends.
Zachary Hoskins
Director of Development
Zachary Hoskins joined the Edu-Futuro team with seven years of prior experience as a nonprofit development consultant, working to develop and implement comprehensive institutional fundraising strategies for clients with budgets ranging from less than $1 million to more than $20 million. A fourth-generation American, he was born and raised in Michigan, where his great-grandparents emigrated from Poland in the early 20th century. With an appreciation for his own family’s immigrant history, he is excited to support Edu-Futuro’s mission of empowering today’s immigrant communities. Zachary holds a master’s degree in Media Arts from the University of Arizona and bachelor’s degrees in Film & Video Studies and Creative Writing & Literature from the University of Michigan.

Norka Morales O'Hagan
Administrative and Finance Manager
Norka joined the Edu-Futuro team with a strong background in finance and operations, having previously worked with the Airport Administration AASANA in Cochabamba, Bolivia. As the Administration and Finance Manager, she plays a vital role in managing the organization’s financial systems and supporting operational efficiency. Norka is passionate about Edu-Futuro’s mission and takes pride in contributing to work that uplifts families and strengthens communities. She is known for her attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and commitment to fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment that helps the entire team succeed.
Rahimullah Afghan
Operations & Administration Specialist
Rahimullah Afghan is Edu-Futuro’s Operations & Administration Specialist, bringing over 8 years of international experience in Accounting, Financial Management , compliance, and internal audit with international organizations such as War Child Canada and USAID. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, an HDA Diploma from the Scottish Qualifications Authority, and professional certifications from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA – UK) and the Certified Public Accountants Association (CPAA – UK), and is currently completing a BSc in Accounting at Southern New Hampshire University while pursuing CPA (USA) credentials. Rahimullah is deeply committed to enhancing operational excellence and financial integrity in support of Edu-Futuro’s mission to empower immigrant communities.

Communications Manager / Línea Directa Producer
Eduardo López is the Founder/Producer of Línea Directa, one of the nation’s longest-running Spanish-language television programs dedicated to Latino public service and community outreach. Since 1990, the weekly series has provided thousands of immigrant families living in the Washington metropolitan area with information on important education, health, legal, and social service issues. The program airs each Saturday morning on the capital region’s leading Spanish-language television station, Telemundo 44. Eduardo is also the co-director of Harvest of Empire, an award-winning documentary focusing on immigration.

Andrea Sarralde is a 28-time Emmy® Award-winning journalist, Telly Award recipient, and filmmaker known for powerful, community-centered storytelling. She brings extensive experience as a producer, host, and multimedia storyteller focused on elevating Latino voices and impactful human stories. Her work spans television, documentary, and digital media, with a strong commitment to authentic storytelling and meaningful audience connection.
Lamine Hamdad
Executive Communication and Information Systems Specialist
Lamine Hamdad brings to Edu-Futuro a unique set of expertise. He is skilled at in-person and online administrative tasks, development of organizational strategies using various platforms, communications and marketing media development, sales, database management, and technical support. His professional background is Business Information Systems, Engineer in Database Management Systems, Web Technologies, and Executive Commercial specialized in Negotiation.

Dulce has more than 25 years of experience in project management. Her professional passion led her to be in the area of fire protection engineering, with a proven record of ensuring personal and facility fire safety, as an expert in assisting organizations in safeguarding life and property against fire, explosion, and related hazards. Dulce has been in Edu-Futuro for a long time, in different roles. She is absolutely committed to our cause, and she loves working in fast-paced environments while keeping the highest quality standards. College and Career Access Specialist
Susana Carpio is a passionate advocate for educational equity and youth empowerment. With a background in economics and a PhD in Development Economics, she brings deep expertise in education, labor markets, and data-driven program design. Susana has worked with international organizations to support youth development initiatives across multiple regions. She currently focuses on helping first-generation and low-income students access higher education and leadership opportunities. Known for her empathy and collaborative spirit, Susana believes in the power of community to create lasting change. She is trilingual in Spanish, English and French.
Edison Ponte
College & Career Access Specialist
Ed serves as the College & Career Access Specialist. In that role, he manages the Emerging Leaders Program III, where he provides mentorship, support, resources, and leadership development to first and second year college students. He also serves as Edu-Futuro’s financial aid specialist providing clinics, information, and workshops on FAFSA and VASA.

Maria is deeply committed to expanding educational opportunities for underserved and historically marginalized communities. Xenia holds a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from Grand Canyon University, with a background in both education and criminal justice, focusing on youth advocacy and empowerment. My own experiences navigating the U.S. education system sparked a passion for helping students overcome similar challenges. I am committed to guiding young people especially first-generation college students, as they prepare for higher education, ensuring they are aware of available resources and confident in building a meaningful future.

Bea is a passionate leader with 19 years of experience in advertising, marketing, and communications, she has held executive roles, including Chief Product and Operations Officer and Client Service Director, in multinational companies. Now serving as a Team Lead in the Chronic Absenteeism Program in Fairfax, she empowers families by educating parents and youth on the importance of school attendance and earning a high school diploma. Committed to making a positive impact, Bea combines empathy, leadership, and mentoring to help communities overcome challenges. Her passion has shifted from building brands to helping people build better futures through empowerment and education.

Gabriela Gutierrez holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and has over 15 years of experience supporting families through a Systemic Psychology approach in the private sector. She has designed and implemented educational programs focused on personal and community development for organizations such as Compassion International and the Latino Health Initiative. Gabriela is committed to empowering individuals and families by applying her expertise to create positive and sustainable impacts within the community. She also contributes as a volunteer educator, delivering programs aimed at young adults to foster growth and development.

Natalie Gutierrez
Parent Support Team Lead
Natalie Gutierrez is a proud first-generation college graduate from George Mason University, where she earned her B.A. in Psychology with concentrations in developmental and clinical psychology. She is a proud AmeriCorps alumna and she brings experience working with both youth and parents in the community. Natalie is passionate about uplifting families through her work and hopes to continue empowering them with her dedication to service.
Yeimy Sanchez
Parent Support Specialist
Yeimy is a life coach, graduated in nursing, and later pursued studies in psychology. In 2022, she has focused her career in the education sector as a Spanish instructor at Fairfax County Public Schools, and in the social and community sector as a workforce specialist with Edu-Futuro. She has 20 years of experience in both the public and private sectors; in Colombia, she specialized in managing government policies and programs aimed at efficiency, transparency, and improving citizen services, with a particular focus on vulnerable populations. Her work is characterized by a commitment to ethical, inclusive public management oriented towards results that promote social well-being and equity.

Joceline Briceño
Workforce Development Team Lead
Joceline holds a degree in Accounting. Her journey at Edu-Futuro began as a Case Management Specialist, a role in which she gained a deep understanding of the community’s needs and how to best assist them. Now, as a Team Lead, she focuses on guiding families to change their mindset and break the cycle of poverty. She empowers her team to help others learn new skills and tools, creating better job opportunities for the families they serve. Joceline handles all her responsibilities with persistence and care, and she has a special empathy for underserved families navigating through language and other barriers, a journey she shares with them.
